Hello Everyone!
It’s hard to believe we’re almost halfway through December. We’ve been working hard on a few new tunes and having a great time performing and meeting some incredible new musicians. The Mayan calander describes 12/12/12 as being a symbol for “new possibilities and evolutionary leaps,” that being said, I thought it would be a good day to share our exciting and “earth shattering,” line-up of shows with you.

This Thursday, as in tomorrow 12/13/12, we will be performing at the National Underground, a roots rock americana bar, in Brooklyn, NY as part of Music Gorilla's Major Label Showcase. Next, we will be making our way back to Milkboy, this time in Philadelphia for a show with The Fallen Troubadors, Griz, and Black Horse Motel - we figured since it's the end of the world and all, we should at least share the night with a stellar lineup.

Amongst the business of recording, performing, and rehearsal, we’ve tried to keep to our promise of giving back to our own community little by little. I’m putting the spotlight on James Dukenfield as he gives up his time each week to visit with elderly Hospice patients. Whether he’s watching Bonanza, actively listening to old war stories, or offering support to a caregiver, Jim’s truly been lending a hand this holiday season. We encourage everyone to do the same this Christmas. Stay tuned for our January plans to give back as we plot out various soup kitchens to visit, because who wouldn’t want to be handed their dinner by a bunch of guys with beards?

New Sweden hopes to help everyone kick off the New Year with a great first weekend of shows as we return to Hard Rock Café in Philly with the Quixote Project on 1/4/2013 and make our way back to Mojo Main with Travel Songs on the 5th. A little later in January, we will be playing our first show in Frederick, Maryland with a show at Café Nola. And finally on the 24th, we make another debut at Deer Park in Newark with our soulful and very talented friends, The Hold Up. Make a point to come out and attend this show! I promise it will be unforgettable and your last chance to see us until the very end of March. Why you ask? We will be sending off one of our band members for a month long trip to China, and upon his return, we embark on a two-week tour anchored around SXSW.

Before I let you go, we're excited to announce that for a 2nd year in a row we've been nominated for Best Delaware Indie Band of the Year in the 2nd Annual TriState Indie Music Awards! Thanks to your help last year, we were able to snag the honor and once again, we're asking for your assistance as we go head to head with two of our favorite local bands, Spinto Band and Mean Lady! Please click the image to the right and VOTE, VOTE, VOTE! You can vote once every 12 hours from NOW until February, 11, 2013. Please vote often and help us spread the word. THANKS!
